Beginners Guitar Lessons
Few things are quite as thrilling as learning to play the guitar! Guitar can be one of the most fun new instruments to learn, no matter your age. I can get you started picking up this exciting instrument and having a lot of fun doing it. My experience as a professional teacher and musician will enable me to create a custom lesson plan to your greatest benefit and optimum comfort as a new musician. The lesson environment is personal and relaxed and the rewards are numerous!
Expanding Your Guitar Knowledge
So many current guitar players strive to improve on what they are capable of in their playing. With the guitar’s fast expanding range of styles and ever-ranging number of genres (electric and acoustic), it can be a challenge to keep up. I can help you increase your repertoire, expand your knowledge of multiple different styles of guitar, and advance your comprehension of music theory. Whether through regular lessons, or if your playing style just needs a little check-up, we can work together to take your performance to the next level.
Improving Theory
At the core of every successful musician is a healthy knowledge of music theory. I firmly believe that theory can be taught at all levels and in many ways. Even just a little bit of theory can take an already experienced musician further. My extensive education in music theory enables me to communicate any and all amounts of theory. Whether incorporated into your guitar lessons, or set aside as separate instruction, you can improve your music theory knowledge and enhance your ability as a musician.
Guitar for Actors/Auditions
In today’s on-going trend of rock ‘n roll influenced musical theatre, auditions often request (or even require) actors to accompany themselves on guitar. Playing while singing is an art form in its self, but doing so while auditioning is an entirely different challenge. In my experience as a professional actor, I have repeatedly and successful accompanied myself in auditions with guitar, and am fully prepared to offer coaching and consultation to prepare you for your audition. From picking an appropriate song, to fine- tuning your performance, we’ll make sure that your audition is top quality.
Accompanist/Studio Player
Require a guitar player for your audition, cabaret, demo, or website reel? My professional experience with all of these makes me your ideal hire. I’m a proficient sight-reader and have extensive ability to play-by-ear, improvise, and arrange in multiple genres. I also have extensive relationships with multiple casting directors, music directors, and theatre professionals that make my additional perspective for you in the audition room invaluable.
Cancellation Policy
New York Vocal Coaching and Associates do practice a 24-hour Cancellation Policy. All sessions cancelled within 24-hours of the appointment must be fully compensated. Due to high demand for sessions, appointments cancelled with less than 48-hours notice will also be charged a $50 fee. New York Vocal Coaching and Associates respectfully request 72-hours notice when canceling appointments, but there is no fee unless cancellations are made with under 48-hours notice.
Clients are encouraged to understand this policy on a variety of levels:
- It Makes Teachers Better
Cancellation policies protect the time, energy, and devotion of hard-working teachers. This benefits students because teachers are better able to maintain a high level of passion, devotion, and energy to teaching and helping students achieve their goals. It is courteous to value teachers’ energies by giving them ample notice for cancellations and compensating their time when you cannot. - It Makes Students Better
By placing importance and responsibility on high-level training and lessons, students maintain a deep commitment, strong work ethic, and understanding of professionalism. All New York Vocal Coaching Associates are professionals that have also been students for many years. We understand that cancellation policies sometimes are difficult and can even seem unfair or frustrating. Nonetheless, rest assured that every New York Vocal Coaching Associate has learned the value of treating lessons with deepest commitment and has respected their own teachers throughout the years by observing their cancellation policies. This is a very important part of showing teachers that their time is valuable. Respecting the hard work and time of fellow artists is paramount to being successful as an artist. - It Makes Other Artists Better
Lesson times fill up very quickly. New York Vocal Coaching teachers can sometimes find their schedules fully booked 2 weeks or more in advance. There is also often a waiting list for times. Since this is true, a cancellation policy is even more important. Students often need sessions at the last minute for major auditions, recordings, performances, or opportunities. It is impossible to help students achieve success when cancellations are given with little notice. By striving to give 72+ hours notice for cancellations, students can help fellow artists succeed by allowing them access to unused lesson times that may be very important to them.
Your understanding of the Cancellation Policy is greatly appreciated. New York Vocal Coaching and Associates make great strides in providing a fair situation to all students. Please know that we care, love, and respect each and every student very deeply. Enforced cancellations are not meant personally, but are simply a part of high-level studies in any leading New York voice or music studio. We encourage you to view it as such and also to read the thoughts above with our utmost respect to you, your goals, and your individual situation. Thank you again for respecting your teachers by following the Cancellation Policy.
